I've been getting messages when I try to open MS Word 2003 or Excel 2003.
There is an immediate dialog box with the heading "Windows Installer" that
says "Preparing to install." This is immediately covered up by another box
headed "Microsoft Office Word" that says "The command cannot be performed
because a dialog obx is open. Click OK, and then close open dialog obxes to
continue."
Upon clicking "OK" another box opens headed "Micorsoft Office Word 11.0"
which says "An error occurred and this feature is no longer functioning
properly. Please run Setup and select 'Repair...' to restore this
application."
Finally, upon clicking "OK," Microsoft Office Word 2003 (11.6502.6408) SP1
opens without further problem.
Now, another one: I'm trying to reinstall Roxio Media Creator 7 because the
HomePageApp.exe won't load anymore (??) and I have to manually load each
application. The Windows Installer box opens, saying "Preparing to
Install," but after a minute or two, it says "The patch package could not be
opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or
contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows
Installer patch package."
Has anyone heard of a Windows Installer patch package?
