Simple.
Why did the mid december updates change accounts and/or registry and system
file permissions?

While you are at it, how can this "safely" be fixed?

Please do not respond with an old Microsoft problem resolution article
because they have ALL be tried with no affect.

Please supply a new resolution and one that fixes the probelem for all,
while keeping our machines safe and secure.

Thans,
Tom

After applying the "mid december updates" to thousands of different
machines - I cannot say I have experienced the problem you are allegedly
having. Not saying you are not having this issue - but I cannot speak from
experience on it - as i have yet to see this problem occur on any of the
machines I manage/have suggested they apply said updated to.

Can you reference - in more detail - the changes you have allegedly seen
made to your system(s)?
(And why restoring to the last known good backup using one of the various
methods your backup procedures surely give you did not resolve this issue
for you?)

You are asleep at the wheel.

My system was functioning 100% fine before december 13 updates.

I have posted the details of what breaks, how, when, why, etc. after and
trying to get updates.

Rolling back to before those updates and voila, my system is again
fucntioning.
All except for the same issue as thousands, can't get updates and can't
install if updates downloaded and installed.

Oh and no doubt you have "few" sw apps running on those thousands of machine
and they are likely all the same machine, so no wonder.

There is a real world out here, thanks.

Most of the machines in questions have in excess of 50 different
applications running on each them.
They range from PII 400MHZ with 256MB RAM to Dual Xeons with 4GB RAM.
40,000+ different users.

The applications installed include - but are not limited to - the full Adobe
suites (all full products), the full Corel suites, the full range of
Microsoft products, AutoDesk products, etc.

You cannot get more "real world" than the systems I support on a daily
basis - nor do many stand-alone users have quite as many applications for
updates to screw up as I deal with usually.

Your version "real world" seems to be more of a "my little bitty world" than
a "real world" to me. *grin*

As far as you posting anything about your problem - then stick to a single
thread or don't expect people to go searching for your details and repost
them. You are - after all - the one asking for assistance. Those
volunteering help to you shouldn't have to go searching for all of the
details in half a dozen places. =)
