You'll probably ignore this, which is a shame but it's your problem at the
end of the day.
If the machine was purchased brand new with Vista installed as you imply
above, then I suggest you return it as faulty - what you describe *could* be
down to hardware issues as easily as anything else. Get a replacement from
them and if it still misbehaves, get a refund and buy a different model. The
only reason hardware and software manufacturers supply computers that don't
work properly is because people accept them that way.
On a new machine, you'll be running an OEM copy of Windows and the
responsibility for supporting it is down to the manufacturer / supplier,
which means it's their problem regardless of whether it is a hardware or
software issue.
In any case, you've purchased something brand new for a lot of money. If you
purchased a new car and it did the automotive version of behaving like this,
would you take it back to the garage? Of course you would. If you purchased
a new TV and it behaved like this, picture kept fading out, it kept
switching itself off, etc, would you take it back to the shop? Of course you
would. Why is a computer any different?
