I'm just curious so see what this technology can do.

Is it better than flash? I heard it can to 3D. Does it use DX10?

Silverlight is used by mlb.tv (Major League Baseball) and by Livestation as
well as other services. It will be used during the Olympics by MSN and NBC
in a cooperative effort to stream several thousand hours of events. And of
course it is used by microsoft.com. You'll have to judge for yourself if it
is better than Flash. It runs fine without DirectX 10.

The olympics site is an utter mess of conflicting links and too much per
page. It loads very slow on a T1 connection. It will never work in two
weeks...it will overload. Can't anyone write code anymore?

Maybe it was one of those overly ambitious projects that they claimed
will work to get you all excited, but couldn't figure it out in the end.
But, hey...not too long ago, would you have imagined 108 Mbps over the
air? And it's even more now with N-spec I think. Just need some hope.

That's not the final version of the Olympics site, so I wouldn't judge
it until after the Olympics officially start.

Thoughts on any of the other sites? I just put together a 'list of
Silverlight games' (http://adamkinney.com/blog/349/default.aspx) today.

It's not a code decision, it's a design decision. Unfortunately there
are few people with the ability to design web sites that meet the
needs of the users vs. the desires of the designers and technicians
who develop them.

Then again, look at most of today's software (vista in particular).
One can only gaze in wonderment at what's "designed" and produced.

I like the MSCUI one. That makes Silverlight look like a google gear
killer. That's actually pretty amazing if it actually works in a rea
hospital environment
