Any Office 2003 patch update broke .TIF file association?

Hi Guys
I notice that any time I install Office 2003 patch update .TIF an
.TIFF files association with Ms Office Document Imaging is deleted
Is it by default behaviuor
I know that SP3 for Office delete them but also the patches? :

Is Office 2003 SP3 installed?

Yes SP3 is installed.

No updates (patches) for Office 2003 SP3 will change the behavior.

Actually I believe I read that certain Office patches do contain the same
changes as the service pack. Not sure about this particular case.

IIRC, the OP's already running Office 2003 SP3, Harry, so the question seems
moot to me.
