any .otf-file is occupied by something, thus is not movable/delete

I copied some .otf-files from somewhere to my vista. And it's not font-files.
They just have the name ".otf".
The OS seems to constantly occupy them. I cannot even delete them. The Only
Way to delete them is run in save-mode.

I wonder why that is.

oft files are Outlook Template Files, so these files are used by Outlook.
Don't know that you really want to delete those if you're using Outlook
though.

What I want to delete, Myron, are the two unwanted .otf files stuck on
my desktop, which are an eyesore. How can I trace their path back to
where they are stored, because they are independent of MS Outlook, and
so serve no useful function? (They were intalled by another application
by mistake.)
Alternatively, would it help if I saved my address book, and then
deleted and reinstalled MS Outlook? If so, what would be the
step-by-step procedure for doing that?

Have you tried deleting them in Safe Mode? If not, then I would do that
next. To get into Safe Mode, repeatedly tap the F8 key as the computer is
starting up. This will get you to the right menu.

Sorry I didn't get back sooner, had a very busy afternoon. If Malke's idea
doesn't work, you will probably have to delete the forms from Outlook itself.
You do this by going through Tools | Options (other tab) | Advanced Options
| Cusotm Forms | Manage Forms. You can then select the offending forms and
delete them. Even if this doesn't delete directly from you desktop, you are
at least unconnecting them from Outlook which should allow you to delete the
files normally. Of course the trick is finding the right form, but if the
name in Outlook matches the name on the file itself, this shouldn't be too
difficult.

I don't know why anything would load the forms to the desktop unless just
for ease of access for launching the form.

BTW, I just dropped a custom form on my desktop and deleted without any
problems. Of course I'm on the office computer so not on Vista at the moment
so don't know if that really matters.
