I find it amazing there is no fax in vista home

I purchased win 95 and could fax
I purchased win 98 and could fax
I purchased xp and could fax
I purchased vista and cannot

I will not sing up to a fax service with a third party company as i see this
as a basic use of computers.

Who had the brainwave to leave it out ?
When will this be resolved with microsoft to include it as a nother patch ?

Probably because the vast majority of Vista users are on broadband and you
can't fax with broadband....

If you need a FAX with Vista, you now have to buy it extra from a third
party.

Rubbish, if you have a modem and it is connected to the phone line, you can
fax, although in Vista versions other than Ultimate and Business, Microsoft
no longer provides it for you. It's cheap enough to buy if you must have.
There are even free options to be found by the resourceful and cheapish.

I don't have a fax modem or a phone line, why would I want fax software? try
sending a e mail attachment.....much harder for the receiver to say they
never got it, you know where it went, who received it and when they opened
it.

Now I am not sure what I am missing here.

Ultimate and Business have FAX? Wow. Most businesses have dedicated fax
lines to dedicated fax machines. Never seen a business PC do a fax.

Home users don't generally buy dedicated fax machines and fax lines.
They do often share the PC fax with the voice line, when needed. As well
as to print/fax to fax machines. Besides, most business users have
digital to their office at work, not POTS.

Now to me, it makes more sense to exclude fax from Business and not home
versions where they are at least ten times likely to be used or wanted.

Sounds to me when they packaged Vista Premium someone wasn't thinking too
hard. Or perhaps they want to entice what I call the double dip. Buy a
PC with Vista Premium, decide it isn't good so either by another OS like
XP or Ultimate to get what is missing and not working. Pay twice, works
once (maybe).

If you don't need to scan documents, you might look at
http://www.pamfax.biz/
You have to have Skype to use it, but you can send document anywhere in
the world.
