Any update on the Nvidia driver problem/ wrong resolution

Has there been any update on NVidia's problem of not being able to set a
correct monitor resolution for a 1440 X 900 wide screen monitor with it's
Vista drivers? Without the correct resoution, the screen looks terrible and
I won't upgrade if I don't think the final Vista version has a working
driver. For some reason it doesn't set the resolution, even though it
detects it from the plug and play monitor.

The drivers native to Vista now is all there will be.
Any other drivers will come from the hardware manufacturer which may also
distribute them through Windows/Microsoft Update.

Have you asked NVidia?

I tried to ask NVidia, but there is not clear way to communicate with them
that I could find on their web site. About all I could find was a way to
make a suggestion. Have no idea if it got to the correct person. If I'd
known of the problem I would have gotten the ATI card with the new
computer...or not upgraded to the wide screen monitor.

The curent NVIDIA Vista drivers on their Website are actually one version
behind the ones that get installed with Vistsa RTM and the release notes for
the ones on the Website indicate that they are incomplete. Hopfully we will
see new ones released to MS soon that correct the known issues and as soon
as MS approves them and makes them available with Vista RTM WinUpdate I
assume that NVIDIA will also post them on their Website.

Give it some time. RTM hasn't even happened yet so there's probably little
real pressure at nVidia to get a new version of the drivers out. They're
probably in beta as we speak.

RTM has happened but since it's only business and enterprise, the rest of us
waiting for premium and ultimate get to suck the "hind tit". It's the old
game of companies want you to upgrade to their newest products to get
immediate Vista drivers, those with previous models will have to wait or
maybe even never see drivers. I've noticed Canon doing that with their
scanners and I maybe SOL with my canoscan.

I am running the version 96.33 vista drivers, and I get 1440x900. I tried
the newer ones, and I don't get the resolution. Have you tried the 96.33
drivers??

You can snail mail them:
http://www.nvidia.com/page/contact_information.html

This will probably eventually be a better place:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/feedback_temp.html

Personally I think paper is best since it is more tangible.
But definitely use both the site feedback and snail mail.
If I really feel the message is important I do both.

I just went and downloaded the nvidia drivers for RC 1, (driver
version 96.33) and 1440x900 resolution now works flawlessly. It seems
the newer drivers are "broken" in this respect, yet the old ones
work fine.
