Is anyone else's User Account picture faded white at the top?

I went to change the default picture for my user account which is the
daffodil (or whatever orange flower with yellow pollen in the middle is)
to a custom picture, and I noticed that towards the top of the picture
it looks like it fades to white. I went back to select one of the
default pictures, and this occurs with the default pictures as well. Is
there an option to turn this off, because it's really annoying. Here is
a picture to help show what I mean. I just did a fresh re-install, but I
don't remember that white fade being added to my picture from before. My
laptop came pre-optimized by Geek Squad people at Best Buy, so maybe
they did something that was able to turn that off, or maybe I just don't
remember the white fade being there, but it was there all along.

Get used to it bucko. It happens even if you choose your own custom
picture instead of one from those that are provided.

Life's tough, huh?

Vista automatically makes your user account picture shiny. This is one of
the top features of Vista, as Microsoft knew that making things shiny hide
the fact from simple-minded people that Vista offers no worthwhile
advancements in usability and performance. Thankfully, it looks like
Windows 7 is going to be leaner and meaner.

As if viewed through glass maybe as in the Vista Aero glass effect. I
agree the reflection effect is a bit overdone for low contrast images -
it really takes the shine off . . . No, hang on. . .

It's to help create a 3-D look, with light shining on the 'button from
above. Simple as that.

It's not specific to Aero, hotshot. I'm running with Home Basic and
it looks like that.
