If you type 'Uninstall' into Google - the second most popular hit is "Live
Messenger" = everyone hates it - and i'm no exception

- it's well documented that it's the biggest security leak
- it can not be suppressed
- of the many fake switches Microsoft have built-into it - none of them will
actually disable it (by design)
= it's quite obviously a Microsoft trojan
- it can not be uninstalled from Vista
- it is hidden from regular programs in the control panel
- it is hidden from Windows components that can be deactivated

despite reading lot of links about how to un-install it - it's quite
apparent none of them have Vista or have ever actually uninstalled it

Anyone know how to get rid of this POS without installing a different
operating system all together?

Couldn't help notice that ever other post seem to be requesting the same
"uninstall"

For the benefit of those - it is part of "Windows Live Essentials" and if
you choose to uninstall it will then let you choose "Windows Live Messenger"

if you hate it so much why do you have it on the computer to begin with.
windows live messenger isn't installed by default on any operating system it
has to be installed manually. and yes it can be removed completely. it is not
hidden from anything in fact if you go into windows explorer you will find it
in your program files etc.
