Anyone using Vista x64?

Hi,

I've been running Vista i386 for a couple years now and I'm thinking of
installing x64 on my next rebuild.

I didn't use it at the start because of the obvious issues with drivers and
apps. Has anyone been running x64? I'm aware of the better performance and
security, but is it worth it?

I have Vista 64 on separate partition, but can see no advantages in it
overall, which is why I usually stick with the 32 bit version.

With Ulead VideoStudio 11, I have found that the program, running on
Vista 64, processes 90 minutes worth of mpeg-2 video noticeably slower
than Vista 32 (around 6 1/2 minutes, versus around 4 minutes for Vista
32). For the operating system to truly shine, I'm guessing that it will
take genuine 64 bit apps for it work at its best.

I have had X64 Home Premium since Vista came out. I have never once had a
problem with drivers.
I have 2 problem applications:

Adobe flash player on a 64 bit browser (but it works fine on 32bit IE)
ITunes recording to CD

Other than those 2 issues, I love my X64

I'm using Vista64 Business with 4GB and things work fine.

Yeah, the Flash player not working in IEx64 is a pain, so I use IEx32. 64
is great, if you are using native 64 apps. There are a lot. Other apps
that aren't 64 bit run in 32 bit emulated mode, which is why you get slower
performance for 32 bit apps.

I upgraded to Vista 64 in a new machine so I can't tell if its faster that
32, but I give it good marks. I have not had any real issues. Make sure
you upgrade to the latest 64 bit drivers from the manufacturer's websites.
Don't count on Windows update as it has lots of old drivers.
