Windows Media wasn't loading (after I uninstalled Winamp). Tried to repair
Win Media, that didn't work, so I figured, uninstall and reinstall would be
best thing. Wrong. I CANNOT FIND A DOWNLOAD FOR WIN MEDIA FOR VISTA, Only for
XP. Apparently, in their infinite wisdom, Microsoft believes that if a
program comes installed on the PC or as part of the OS, we never need to
reinstall it. I did find one page on Microsoft site full of info about Win
Media 11 for Vista and Win 7 BUT NO DOWNLOAD!!!
Someone on another forum said use XP version. But that wouldn't install
because it turns out wpplayer.exe is still in my programs folder. It doesn't
work properly because it refuses to read media on my hard drive. I can't
delete or rename it, even though I'm Admin for this PC. So it's both not
working but keeping me from trying XP version.
Where is a download for the full Win Media for Vista 64-bit? Or even 32-bit?
Or maybe, what media player should I use instead, that works with Vista and
Win 7 and my SanDisk fuze mp3 player, BUT THAT IS NOT TIED TO THE OS?! That
seems to be the root of all these absurd problems.
In meantime, I'll use iTunes and RealPlayer.
