Hello all, i would like to ask for help as all my ideas are not helping me.

Recently i have installed newest version of MSN Live Messenger, after i
login (wich works fine) the news window appears and program crashes giving me
this Windows error:

AppName wlcomm.exe AppVer 14.0.8064.206 ModName kernell32.dll
ModVer 5.1.2600.5512 Offset 00009eca

Exception Information
Code 0xc0000005 Flags 0x00000000
Record 0x0000000000000000 Adress 0x000000007c809eca

Reinstalling Messenger didn't fix the problem. I even disabled my Antyvir
program (Nod32). And still i'm getting same error.

I hope some1 will be able to help me.

Greetings,

Unfortunately there's so many things that seem to affect wlcomm that there is no real
one-all-fix.

Firstly though, locate the following folder and remove it and all contents:
\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Live
Contacts

Where username is your Windows username. Additionally, some of these folders will be hidden
if browsing by default, so to see them simply press the Alt key on the keyboard in any
Windows Explorer window to bring up the toolbar, click Tools, then Folder Options, then the
View tab, and then choose 'Show hidden files and folders'. After click OK, they should appear
with the other folders.

After removing the Windows Live Contacts folder, start up Messenger again and try to log in.

If the problem persists, make sure you aren't using a custom theme (via uxtheme patch) in
Windows or WindowBlinds. You may also want to consider uninstalling NOD32, at least
temporarily to determine if that is the problem.

Ok those are the steps i did:

1. Deleted the directory
2. Messenger is crashing now after me pressing Signup
3. I have uninstalled the messenger and nod, installed messenger the problem
was not solved
4. I have reisntalled both messenger and Ie7.
5. Messenger is still crashing when i try to log in (wich is a bit worse
than before, as it was crashing after login). It still gaves me same error
with Windows Live Communications Platform
6 Currently i'm using version 8.5 wich works fine.

I think i will need to reinstall whole windows wich sucks a bit, as all the
settings, programs and more of my stuff will be lost...

Anyway thank you for that answer.

I have the exact same problem. Same error code and all. Started a few days
ago, let me know if any solution is found (reinstalling windows would be a
pain)

Hi,

I have done the steps above and noticed that I am using starbock and
unloaded it and deleted the files as stated and it worked..

If the problem persists, make sure you aren't using a custom theme (via
uxtheme patch)in Windows or WindowBlinds. You may also want to consider
uninstalling NOD32, at least temporarily to determine if that is the problem.

A Micrsoft process is failing because of this.. any chance of getting a
workaround.
If further debugging is needed please let me know...

thanks

Here is how this problem is fixed:

Start - All Programs - Windows Blinds - Run windows blinds
under settings, choose per application
add per application setting (its a button)
Locate: c:\program files\windows live\contacts
choose wlcomm.exe
check mark: ignore this application and do not skin it
click OK
under windows blinds, apply settings, exit live, and reopen, enjoy!

that worked for me .. hope it works for u too
