Hi,

I've done MBSA scanning and need to apply patches on some workstations and
servers in my company (all those have no internet access). I worry if the
patches will caused any crash to my in-house applications. What is the best &
secure way of applying those patches? For example;
1. to minimize number of patches need to be applied, select only the lastest
patches? (select 2008, ignore 2007 or earlier?)
2. Can patches be applied in random order?
3. Should patches be applied in sequence (1st – 2006 patches, 2nd 2007
patches, last – 2008 patches)?

Other questions;
- Should all the patches be apply in sequence? How to sort out the sequence?
- where can I get some info on patches vs impact on windows/application?
- If workstation/server has no backup device, is System State backup enough
to roll-back in case patches failed or my application hits error?

Thanks
Sam

Support for Windows Update:
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/wusupport

For home users, no-charge support is available by calling 1-866-PCSAFETY in
the United States and in Canada or by contacting your local Microsoft
subsidiary. There is no-charge for support calls that are associated with
security updates. When you call, clearly state that your problem is related
to a Security Update and cite the update's KB number (e.g., KB999999).

For more information about how to contact your local Microsoft subsidiary
for security update support issues, visit the International Support Web
site: http://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspx

For enterprise customers, support for security updates is available through
your usual support contacts.
