Approved Software in Defender

Not sure is this is the right place to ask this, but How does a software
developer go about getting their software 'approved' so it runs at startup
and is not blocked by defender?

Please don't say turn of UAC - I want to know the official process /
channels to ghet a peice of software on the white list
