April 8 updates

April 8 downloads started at 10am this morning it is now 7:48pm and only 9%
of download done. this happened in Feb also when there was an update.
Anyone have any idea why this is happening? Why so slow in updating, my
computer is relatively new laptop with all the bells and whistles. Last time
in Feb. I turned off auto update,so I manually authorized this update. Now
I really just want to turn off auto update perm and never download the
updates. It seems to just screw up my machine since the first of the year. I
have cleaned reinstalled gone thru the gamit, sick of wasting hours on this
problem of updates. Thanks for listening

Depends mainly on the load on the servers at MS. Remember millions are trying
to update. Just forget about it and when they are downloaded you will be
advised. The alternative is to manually search for updates and install. This
will put you ahead but will put someone else back in the line.

Absent any Errors in your windowsupdate.log, you may be seeing a delay
caused by excessive demand on the servers. It can take up to 7 days for all
Automatic/Windows Update users to get new updates when so many have been
released.

You can try downloading/installing the updates manually: Understand that by
doing so, you're pushing all the Automatic Updates users further back in the
queue (which may explain, at least in part, why Automatic Updates hasn't
brought them in for you yet).
