April Windows Up messing up Office XP 2002 but not 2003?

After the April Windows XP update many experienced trouble.
I stopped auto update on most of the computers I over see.
The update did install 12 machines I over see.
The PC’s that have Office XP 2002 installed got MESSED up.
The PC’s that have 2003 installed were Not effected and run fine.
The PC that has “Open Office� installed was Not effected and run fine.
All PC’s had HP software on them. (I notice someone had asked that a number
of times).
I don’t have any pc’s with “Office 2000� installed so I can’t say what
happens to them.

After un-installing the updates the effected PC’s run fine.

IS this update messing up everyone with Office XP 2002??

When is Microsoft going to release a patch for the patch??

It addresses a number of problems with the resent update KB908531 which is
causing a lot of folks problems.

I changed the Registry like it said on the page you gave the link to.
It seems to have fixed the problems on the 1 PC I tired it on so far.
Thank you.

I would still like a patch that does not require going into the registry
manually.
I deal with small offices all over town.
Using the above fix I would need to go to each office and pc to make these
changes. (They are not networked)
