SBS 2003 Premium R2

My client has upgraded to a new datbase application that runs in IIS. It
has to use ASP.Net 2.0. Once the website was up for the database, the
company website quite working. I upgraded the company website to ASP.Net 2.0
and ran the STSADM command to upgrade the webconfig file. The company web
and 3rd party website is working. RWW has stopped working, but OWA is
working. I can't seem to get RWW back online. All sites are started in IIS.
I get the error "Server Application Unavailable" When accessing RWW
internally or externally. The body of the error states "The web application
you are attempting to access on this web server is currently unavailable.
Please hit the "Refresh" button in your web browser to retry your request."

Is there anything I can do to get RWW back online with the company website
running in ASP.net 2.0?

I had found that previously. No solution was offered in that article and it
is 3 years old.

I need to know definitively whether or not ASP.net 2.0 will work with RWW
and what i need to do to accomplish this. If it won't work can I run the
database and company web in 2.0 and run RWW in 1.1. If so how can I
accomplish this?

Thanks

The Default Web Site and Companyweb should be running in .Net 1.1. You need
to make sure that the ASP.NET tab (in Properties)for each is set to use .Net
1.1.

Or are you saying that each of these is set to .net 1.1 and yet Companyweb
and RWW do not work?

I currently have the default website and companyweb running in 2.0. If I
change either to 1.1 companyweb stops working. RWW does not work at all. I
had to upgrade companyweb to 2.0 to get it to run with the new database app
that has to run in 2.0. I was getting an error to the effect of not being
able to run a site in 2.0 and another site in 1.1, so companyweb was upgraded
to 2.0. Now RWW is offline.

Any suggestions?

More info, if I upgrade sharepoint central administration to 2.0 RWW works
but company web does not. If I change it back to 1.1 companyweb works but
RWW does not.

Did you install the new SQL App into the Default Web Site? If so, can you
uninstall it, set the Default web site Virtual Directories back to Net 1.1
and then then reinstall the app (but not into the Default Web Site).

The app does not run on the default web site, but it must use port 80. We
had to dual hone the lan side nic so it has 2 ip addresses. 192.168.16.2 and
192.168.16.3. The new app runs on 3. Once it was installed I got error
messages about a conflict between ASP.net 1.1 and two, basically saying I
could not run both. That is why I upgraded companyweb to 2.0 but that took
down RWW.

All the default SBS2003 components (apart from Companyweb [with the latest
WSS service pack]) need to be ASP.Net v1.1.

You cannot run both ASP.Net v1.1 and v2.0 with a single Application Pool,
so what you have to do is split the Companyweb and your application
virtual directories off into their own Application Pool. Then you can
assign that Pool to run v2.0, and put the default Pool back to v1.1

Duplicate the existing default Application Pool (to get all the settings
right), assign the Companyweb and your application virtual directories to
the new pool (VDir/Website Properties > Website tab), and then set the
ASP.Net version to v2.0. Then set the ASP.Net version to v1.1 on the VDirs
of RWW, etc.
