How to assign things to F keys in Vista?

I know that when Im using internet explorer 7.0 and press my F3 key it will
bring up a search box, but is there a way that I can change what the F keys
do in vista?

I wish to assign a print (like pressing CTRL+P) to the F12 key, but don't
have a clue how to do this.

Thanks,

Windows key mappings are built into Windows and cannot be changed. Many
keyboards come with utility software that will let you re-map keys on their
keyboard.

Changes that you want to make are accomplished via the keyboard
software/drivers. If the drivers don't allow it, it isn't going to happen.

I have the Microsoft "Natural keyboard pro" if that helps any.

I've not installed any special software for it since vista never asked me
to.

See If Microsoft is putting out updates for your board. I have the Office
keyboard and MS is not making drivers available as the board is about 5
years old.

Okay will do.

I know that my model keyboard is substantially old and when I need a new one
I have to go to ebay where every now and then some new ones pop up, because
I need the natural keyboard but I also need it to be true PS2 so that it
works on both my windows computer and linux server, so Im doubting I'll find
much there. Maybe I can scare up the original disk that came with it to see
if it has anything like that.

Invest in a good keyboard.

The latest and greatest from Microsoft and Logitech will do what you
want (more or less). Although personally I'd avoid Logitech keyboards.

I've got a Cherry Keyboard, which I really like. However, they've yet
to release Vista software for it (come to think of it, they don't seem
to have released Vista software for any of their keyboards).

But then I never use all the fancy buttons anyway.

I think I'll invest in a decent, yet "plain" (black) keyboard next
time.

I know of people running USB keyboards running Linux with no problems.

And I've been running Linux for years with "semi-true" PS/2 keyboards
(i.e. with a PS/2 to USB adapter - which is pretty much standard these
days).
