Associate sign in with WLM shortcut

On my desktop I have a shortcut to WLM (msnmsgr.exe). WLM has been set up
with several IDs. Is there a way of associating an ID with the shortcut so
that when I double click on the shortcut, WLM will open up with the
associated ID? The idea would be to have a shortcut for each ID that has
been set up in WLM. I am running Windows 7/64 and have the latest version of
messenger.

Greetings Tino,

That's a good question. There certainly isn't any built-in way to do this, but awhile ago I
spent a great deal of time trying to figure out the issue with Messenger "forgetting"
credentials and learnt a great deal about how Messenger gets the username and password.

That said, there might be a way to do it but I'll have to do some testing to see if its
actually doable. I've wrote it down to work on later, if you want, just send me a quick
e-mail so I have it on file and can notify you if I come up with anything.

FWIW here's how I would start researching this (via a cmd window):

C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Messenger>msnmsgr.exe /?

E.g. I wonder what msnmsgr.exe /Automation would do? ; )

Hint: see if ProcMon provides any more clues for that case?

Unfortunately the help window doesn't give any details about additional
syntax so you might actually have to resort to using a debugger to really
find out what all the possibilities are.

Good luck
