Associating several email accounts to Messenger new mail notification

Can I associate more than one email account with Messenger's email alerts
(little notification window that slides up, and the (1) next to the envelope
icon on top of the main messenger window)?

Say I want Messenger to notify me when I have new mail in my gmail
account(s), in addition to my hotmail account. Can this be done?

Greetings,

Messenger can only notify you of your Hotmail account.

However, if you use Messenger Plus Live (http://www.msgplus.net), Plus can check other
accounts (POP) and display a notification.
