Hi, i'm new to these boards, and am having trouble with logging off from
Vista home premium

I'll briefly run you through a few silly mistakes I made this morning.

1) Turned on lap top with Vista Home premium and Trend internet
security on board and decided to install my latest anti virus software.

2) Started loading new antivirus software, when a message advised I
should remove Trend antivirus first, so began doing so at the prompt.
....The trend installer dialogue box came up and said it would only take
a few moments....hmmmmm...of which turned into 2 hours so decided to
install the new my new antivirus software straight over the top of the
old antivirus program, thinking I could go back and remove it later.
Because it was clear, it wasnt progressing, ie wasnt making any
progress removing itself from my computer.
This is where things got ugly......(stay with me people)

3)I thought I might get some web support re- removing the old Trend
antivirus suite though found I wasnt able to log onto the net, so I
began attempting to manually uninstall it myself.....(via the products
uninstaller icon) in my program files, and by useing windows add/remove
tool also....(no luck) it just advised that the program wasnt there,
and or that it had partially been removed already.

4)I then attempted to system restore, of which prooved futile, for
when the computer restarted, it just advised that the previous restore
had been unsucessful, so to try another restore point, which I did and
again, NO sucess....however upon restarting this time, I noticed how my
desk top had dissapeared, icons gone, only wall paper remained.

5)I then preceded to the next user account, thinking I could gain
access to the old antivirus control panel over there.....wrong, and
whilst the icon was still there, and device manager was advising that
Trend was still a process opperating on my system....nothing would
happen when I clicked on it....so I decided to log out of this user
account and return to the original one to see if the wall papered/zero
icon screen had gained some functionality ..
6) So I tried to log out of the secondary account , when a "Logging
Off" mesage appeard on the screen. And after many attempts to turn off
my computer, three hours later.... it's still there. ...still
apparently logging off!
I have tried ctrl, alt,del (wont even bring up the task manager)
have tried ctrl, shift, esc, and this failed also.
I dont have a windows disk.....the software came preloaded on my
lap-top....nor do I have a boot disk. The only screen and or account I
can access is the one which says, "Logging off" it wont budge

:zip:........... Would really appreciate any advise you can give me...

Regards, Mel.

He did try at least twice and with no joy, unless it would have to be done
in 'safe mode'?
