My computer keeps doing mini crashes and when I send report to Microsoft they
come back with the answer of I need to update my ATI Graphic Driver I click
on the link I am given and go to custom and hardware and there are no
updates, so I went to ATI Tec. and asked about it and was shown one to put
in my basket I tell them I want to save to desk top click download and then
everything greys out but there is no driver downloaded. I have tried to save
to other places also and the same thing happens. I have talked to microsoft
about this via phone (free) but they also have no help for me. Is there
anyone out there that can help me with this?

This group is windows update - not Ati graphics card driver updates.
You say you have been to Ati - did you post a 'ticket' to get help.
I have always found them to be very helpful in the past with driver
updates - they should give you a step/step guide to update and install.
You could also post your question in the windowsxp.hardware group.

Well, of course I don't. Have no paper work at all. The closest I could
figure upon looking in my systems is Rage 128 Pro, I clicked on my xp pro and
found Rage it gives me 5 things to download and I have no idea which if any
to download. I am a novice at this. I am going to Microsoft downloads and
then was directed to ATI.

Get the Belarc Advisor program - it is free. It will identify all the
installed hardware and more. Then you can go to the proper newsgroup
and get some advise....

Thank you Bill, did it and got info of
RAGE 128 PRO AGP 4X TMDS (Microsoft Corporation) I then went to one site to
download what I assumed was an update (microsoft, ATI Tech. nor the download
site I went to had any info on if this was the right download) Well, they
said I would have to remove the older graphics driver from my computer so I
attempted to do this. Of course I could not find it anywhere and even if I
did I am afraid of deleting this. So I guess I am just going to have to put
up with these mini crashes 'till I can get my computer into a shop and pay
someone $100. to download the correct driver for me. Thanks again for your
reply and for the tip of Belarc.

Go to www.ati.com and get the driver package for a Rage card. There is
a lenghty install proceedure but is easy to follow. They also have
removal tool you can use. Also try the ati user group
alt.comp.periphs.videocards.ati.

Good luck

Bill, I really appreciate all your help. I did as you said and they say I
need to register my product. I need to go into my computer and physically
get the #'s from the hardware that is the only way they can help me.
#1. I have no idea which or what I am supossed to be searching for
#2. ????????????? that's called frustration
I have written micrsoft and ATI and BEGGED for help. Next, by Monday, I
will open my computer and see if I can locate what they want. For all I know
it could be embedded in the hard drive. The I will be back at square one.
Again thank you
