Continuous unsuccessful installation of above has me in endless loop. After
I cancel out of failed install, yellow exclamation point icon keeps
reappearing on lower right of screen, requiring me to try install again. How
do I either successfully install or get rid of icon?

Mark;
In the future do not get drivers from windows Update.
Instead get drivers directly from the hardware manufacturer.

Follow step 5 on this link to delete what has already been downloaded:

Mark;
You can leave it set to Automatic but also disable the driver part.
Right click My computer
Click Properties.
Click Hardware tab
Click Windows Update button
Check "Never search..."
Click OK and follow prompts.

Generally only get drivers if there is an expected benefit.
Simply having a newer driver available is not enough.
