I guys!
I've allways using my ATI AIW 7500 with msn messenger without any problems.
After installing Live Messenger I can correctly setup the video conversation
but it does not work. It appears with an red X over it like there was not
camera detected. The setup allways finishes OK.
Help please.

Greetings Ton,

Actually the support for most of these older capture cards (actually it's the driver that has
the problem) probably won't work in Messenger 8. There were a few in 7.5 which did the same
when the older RTC code was removed.

I used to have the exact technical reasons but it's escaping me at the moment. Out of pure
curiosity, have you tried any other third-party applications that do video (like Skype -
www.skype.com) to see how they fair with it?

Thank's Jon!
I did install and test skype afterwords and it doesn't even setup.
Do those new AIW work fine with the LiveMessenger?

Hi,

Actually to be honest I'm not sure, I haven't personally owned an AIW since the 8500 and I
haven't seen it mentioned one way or another if it newer ones work in this capacity or not.

Are you just trying to do the standard camcorder as a webcam thing?

Hi Jon
Yes, I've allways used it with messenger since my AIW RAGE 128 with 4Mgs.
When the webcams were stil on 4 feet, and people were allways amased with the
quality of my video. So I've dedicate my old camcorder just for that. Quality
video and audio, Zooming and other effects present on the camera allways paid
the space it takes. By the price of good webcams the one can get new AIW
cards with shader 2.0 and all the new technologies. So...
