attaching docs to email

I can not attach documents to my email . Until 2 weeks ago I had no
problems. Have tried opening and re-saving. attaching docs to other email
accounts
such as aol, yahoo,etc, opening and saving, cutting and pasting to document
to attach nothing has worked....I do not get any error messages...nothing
happens and the attachment line is grayed out in email along with a red x if
you scan over the gray area. Can anyone advise??
