That's how we see it...based on our preference to separately control the send or receive either by desire or experience from all
prior Msft(and other) email clients.
The other angle.....as long as keeping Hotmail(mail, contacts, calendar) synchronized was the primary focus in addition to
integration with WLMsgr(which can also poll the same Live ID, display an equivalent email counter, and provide a toast for new
messages) then polling specific accounts in WLM takes a back seat to that integration. After all it is 'Live' Mail
Fyi...the Hotmail web UI also polls automatically, including aggregated pop3 accounts(the ability to pop the aggregated accounts[up
to 4] was removed in the last 'Wave').
Personally, I'd like WLM to only poll automatically when signed on with a Live ID and only for the signed on account...but there
have been times where being notified that an expected new pop3 account message is present has been a plus without having to sync
the account.
