AU Keeps Trying to Update Uninstalled .Net Framework 2.0

Hi:

I uninstalled all versions of .Net Framework and updates, starting from 3.0
all the way to 1.0, without any problem.
Automatic Update and the Microsoft Update are both trying to install an
update for .Net Framework 2.0 which AU has downloaded AFTER uninstallation of
all versions of .Net Fraework.

Any idea how to get rid of it other than hiding it in the list displayed by
Microsoft Update?

I run Windows XP SP3 Home Edition on a Dell 2400, with Firefox browser, Zone
Alarm firewall, avast! antivirus - system and all applications updated.

[If you in fact did manage to uninstall all .NET Framework versions, I'm
surprised the machine works!]

1. Stop the Automatic Updates service:

Start > Run > (type in) services.msc > [OK]
Double-click Automatic Updates > Click on Stop
(Stopping the service will take a moment)

2. Delete the contents of the Download folder:

Start > Run > (type in) %windir%\SoftwareDistribution > [OK]
Open the Download folder and delete its contents
Close the window.

3. *Using Internet Explorer*, go to Windows Update website | Select CUSTOM
and allow the scan to complete | Uncheck/deselect the .NET Framework update
and hide it ("Don't show me this update again").

4. Start the Automatic Updates service:

Start > Run > (type in) services.msc > [OK]
Double-click Automatic Updates > Click on Start
(Starting the service will take a moment)

5. To avoid downloading/installing updates you don't want, reconfigure
Automatic Update to the Notify Only setting. See
