Audio line in issues

Hi,

I'm on Windows Vista Home Premium. I've asked a similar question to this
before and so far I've semi-fixed the problem but was just hoping people
could help a bit more.

I"ve connected my decks to my line in jack (through a mixer) and selected
"line in" as a recording device. I can see from the level monitor that the
signal is in fact getting through, but I cannot hear it coming from the
speakers. Do I need to select 'line in' as a playback device rather than a
recording device? If this is the case then how do I do this, because the only
playback device my computer currently has listed are my speakers......is it
even possible to do this with Vista Home Premium?

Another (less important) question is how do I get "wave out mix" or "stereo
mix" to be listed as a Recording device, so that I can record live streams?

Thanks
Karim

Hi, Karim
If you don't get an answer here, you might try the newsgroup
microsoft.public.windows.vista.music_pictures_vide o

You might also try doing an advanced search at groups.google.com, specifying
the music_pictures_video newsgroup.

A line in is a line IN. There is no possible way to select a line IN port as an
OUTPUT device. The same as a line OUT cannot be used as an INPUT device.

Go to the Playback Devices window, highlight Speakers and press the Properties
button. On the LEVELS tab, you can adjust the line IN level.

Did you right click in the Playback and the Recording windows, and checked both
"Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices"?

If you do not see something in the Recording window like "Stereo Mix" (Realtek)
or "What-U-Hear" (Creative), then your audio adapter driver does not provide
this capability. What is your audio adapter? Have you looked for updated audio
adapter Vista drivers?
