I just upgraded to service pack 2 on windows xp and now I am getting an error
message that my Yamaha audio device is not compatible with it and audio does
not work. I tried going to the sony website for my sony laptop looking for a
compatible driver and found none that would work. Any help would be
appreciated.

Email Sony.
They are responsible for the system drivers.

You may be able to find some at driverguide.com or other similar sites.
Maybe even Yamaha's sound card support site:

The information is provided "as is", it is suggested you research for
yourself before you take any advice - you are the one ultimately
responsible for your actions/problems/solutions. Know what you are
getting into before you jump in with both feet.

Indeed.
But they were written voor XP/XPsp1.
Not for what comes down to a new Operating System (SP2)

I'm having the same problem:
my PC vendor (Medion.com)
uses vital propriety components that have no SP2 compatible drivers.

Medion is not willing to provide new, SP2 compatible drivers.

So I'm stuck with XP SP1; untill I buy a new PC.....

So much for the Microsoft focus on security -
if your vendor doesn't cooperate, you're lost.

And whatever the MVPs say, that's a fact of life for many XP users.
