Hello,

I have been tring to configure audio in MSN Messenger v6.0.0602. When I run
the Audio tuning wizard I am told 'No Audio Device Is Detected'.

However, my system does have audio, which is working. Netmeeting will allow
me to hold audio conversations, the operating system play sounds, games all
as expected, sounds are also generated from msn messenger when contacts log
on etc..

My set up is;

Dell Precision Workstation 620.
MSN Messenger v6.0.0602
Chrystal Sound Fusion On Board Sound (CS4280)
Windows 2000 SP3
DirectX 8.1

Would appreciate any help or suggestion you may have particularly if you've
solved a similar problem or have MSN messenger working with Crystal Sound
Fusion CS4280.

Kind Regards,

Simon Rear

Simon,
I had the same problem (after a power surge knocked me
off). Everything was working fine before, then MSN
Messenger couldn't detect the sound card. I'm also
running the same basic setup as you are. I tried
everything to fix it, nothing worked. Then, I tried to
fire up NetMeeting ... it detected the card OK. So, I
went back to MSN Messenger, brought up Audio Tuning
wizard, and voila, it works fine again!
Good luck.

Thanks for your reply Michael,

I re-tried this just in case, (net meeting was already detecting and using
my sound card as expected)... The problem with messenger's Audio Tuning
wizard still remains.

Do you have the same on board chrystal soundfusion (CS4280), working with
MSN Messenger???

If so at least I'd know if my sound card is compatible...

Regards,

Simon
