August 30 update w/ virus

Hi,

I was going to download some updates onto my server but a
friend was telling me she had a virus piggy back onto her
computer through an August 30th update (microsofts
words). Now she's not that computer savy and I havn't
seen anything on the web about it yet but was wondering
if anyone knew of this?

If she was using Windows Update, this is highly unlikely. More likely that
she got a virus or spyware/malware from somewhere else. Does she have a
firewall? Good AV software? Probably not, based on your description.

yeah, she has an AV but she's not good with the up keep,
I figured if it was windows update that they would remove
that link ro remove the file it linked to. just wanted a
little peace of mind...thanks
