Hi

After installing the August updates I get the dreaded blue screen every 10
to 15 Mins. I uninstalled all the updates and installed them one at a time.
The culprit is KB932596. I have hidden this update and everything is working
Ok. Has anybody else had this problem?
Francis

It has not been mentioned over much. Three reports in all with one
specific problem recorded with Vista.

What operating system is yours and what was the Stop Error Report?

Hope this helps.

O/S Win XP Pro 64-bit + SP2; AMD Athlon 64, 2 GHz.

Last week also downloaded all 8-9 updates, installed,
re-boot and found problems with connection, IE6 etc.
Un-installed all via Restore to previous day.
The 'culprit' was said to be KB932596, see
microsoft.public.security.homeusers for
"Issues with August Updates - Vista".

HOWEVER, last night I re-installed with 3 Restore
points as each block of updates went in and now ALL have
installed correctly (or so I believe at the moment). They went
in, in a different sequence to the original instal, but work now.
Weird

Gerry,

I am sorry I should have mentioned, the operating system is Vista Home
Premium 64. I also have AVG (Free) and Jetico firewall Installed. The fault
is repeatable; if I install KB932596 I get the blue screen after about 10
mins, reboots and blue screen again after 10 mins. Uninstall KB932596 and
everything works ok. When the computer reboots I get the message; recovered
from a fault do you want a solution? When I click yes, the massage goes away
but I don’t get a solution. Additional info with the message is:
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.3
Locale ID: 3081

Additional information about the problem:

BCP4: 0000000000000008
OS Version: 6_0_6000

Aruna

There are three or four people in this newsgroup who have highlighted a
problem with KB932596 and Vista 64. I think you will have to wait for
Microsoft to resolve the problem.

I have the same problem, no doubt about it being KB932596.
Once uninstalled Vista works like a charm.
I have Windows Vista Business 64

Edit: I also had Jetico Personal Firewall, I found a forum discussing the
issue and it seems that you have to choose between JPF and the windows
update, renaming Windows\System32\drivers\bcftdi.sys to bcftdi._sys (or
deleting it completely?)
should allow the update to be installed without problems. I am rebooting
with the installed update as I write this post. If I encounter problems I'll
post them here.

Hi...I'm having a similar problem using SP2. After the August updates,
getting a blue screen fruently when logging on and directing me to a
microsoft site suggesting uninstalling device drivers etc. Is the KB932596
the culprit for SP2 users also? thx

Sorry, meant to add that the update numbers that I see for my august updates
are different...so was wondering if anyone knows which one may be causing the
blue screens for SP2...thanks
