This particular update (KB913670) won't install on either of my 3 XP
computers. The installation process ends up with error code 0x (that's
right, 0x - no further code). Anyone knows why this happens?

The reason it happens is that, at some time in the past, the hidden folder
C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB912475$ was deleted from your Windows installation.
Update 913670 works by uninstalling 912475, and therefore requires the
uninstallation folder for 912475. If you put the $NtUninstallKB912475$
folder and its contents back, then 913670 will proceed without error.

Thanks. It is true that C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB912475$ is no longer
present on any of my machines. What do I do now? Is there a workaround?

If you can get access to an XP PC of the same Service Pack vintage with that
folder still present, simply copy that folder and all its contents onto a
USB stick and transfer it back to your PC.

Or you can try Googling for "$NtUninstallKB912475$" as some archive copies
were put on the web, but some of the links have not gone dead.
