Auto Restart After Update

OK, this is one more person asking about how to turn off the auto restart
feature of XP "Home" edition. I have read all about this issue in many
places and get conflicting solutions, and none that work. PLEASE do not tell
me about how I should turn off auto updates or save my work to avoid losing
it. Save your time, I don't need to hear this again. I have read that
already. I don't want to turn off auto updates and this window sometimes
gets ubscured under other windows and I don't see it until its too late.
"All I want to know is how to keep auto updates on, and turn off the auto
restart feature on XP "Home" (NOT XP Pro) OS. I have read the MS KB article
#555444 and it says I can do this on XP Home by editing the registry key
found under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Software\Policies \Microsoft\Windows
\WindowsUpdate\AU. It says to change the "NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUsers"
DWord value to the required number. 0 = False (Allow auto-reboot) 1 = True
(Disallow auto-reboot). However, in MY registry there is no
WindowsUpdate\AU under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Software\Policies
\Microsoft\Windows.

So how can I do this?

If you have a solution (not platitudes), please reply and copy >>>>bud _
richard @ earthlink . net<<<<< remove the spaces.

If it's not there just add it using New on the Right Mouse Button

Bill, thank you very much. But D@#M, I just typed a complete description
of exactly how I did this for others and to have you look it over (I am not a
PC programmer). But it the reply window didn't transmit right and the reply
got lost! Anyway, here is the brief version, I backedup the registry using
save system state in the MS Backup Utility and then read how to edit a
registry. I then added the two missing subkeys and the Dword equalling 1.
Is there any way to test this now? Or do I have to wait for the next
"auto-reseting" Windows Update to occur?
