Vulnerability in DirectShow Could Allow Remote Code Execution (904706)
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../MS05-050.mspx

If this fits the description of your system -

Microsoft DirectX 8.1 on Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 1 and
Microsoft DirectX 9.0c on Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2

then download the update from here :
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...a-21a84f3658a5

To determine the version of DirectX that is installed, click Start,
click Run, type

dxdiag.exe

Click OK. The DirectX Diagnostic Tool will open. Look at the version
information next to " DirectX Version: " which shows the current version
of DirectX that is running on the system.

Temporarily disable the installed antivirus program prior to downloading
it. SAVE the download, do NOT run it.
Close IE, then install it.
REMEMBER to reenable the installed AV after the installation and any
required rebooting.

If that fails, please copy&paste the KB904706.log into your reply.
It's located in the WINDOWS folder (directory).
You may need to show hidden files, folders, and system files to view it:
