On an 100% new system (LENOVO T61p) with XP SP2 we first installed all
updates including the SP3. Then we continued installing the Office 2007. The
Autoupdate function is active.

The Autoupdate identified several needed updates (in the meantime 15), but
they do not get installed. Looking the WindowsUpdate Log file the following
error is listed:

= Process: C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuauclt.exe
FATAL: Error: 0x80004002. wuauclt handler: failed to spawn COM server
FATAL: 0x80004002: ERROR: Remote update handler container process created
(PID: 3848), but exited before signaling event

Afterwards the system tries to install thze Updates and gets in each case
the same exit code 0X80004002

We did not find any information about that issue. Has anyboday an idea which
migth be the the problem behind?

Thanks

Thomas

We solved the problem after we looked again in the discussion Group

Under "error 80004002" we found a tip form GAgira to registrate some dll new
with the regedit32 command. Now the autoupdate is working fine.

Thanks Thomas
