Auto update intallation failures

i have xp home. there are currently 7 auto updates downloaded but every
attempt to install them ends in failure. some are security updates for
Office/word etc. i would be greatful of some assistance.

In the past, I had some problems with an update for my Office 2003. For some
reason, the upgrade said it was for Office 2003, but either in my Control
Panel or in my Review Update History, it was shown as an undate for Office
XP/2002, which didn't make sense as I've never had that version in my
computer. After consulting with Microsoft, we 'hid' the update so it wouldn't
try installing it again. And earlier today, I had a number of updates that
wouldn't install a couple of times, but now only the one for IE^ won't
install, but that could be because I think I have IE7 installed and don't
need the update. I might end up 'hiding' that one as well.
