http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.co...leid=26&ln=enI
have tried just about everything I can find to have my few rermaining W2k
servers update automatically. I started off by maually loading BITS (which
fixed the update problem on workstations). Since then I have run through just
about everything to rectify the problem with no success.
My servers sit behind ISA 2004, each server runs the Proxy Client therefore
proxycfg appears as direct access. I have looged on to the server itself, I
have tried using a remote terminal session, no luck.
I have stopped and started wuauserv, I have ran proxycfg -d, I have checked
over Microsoft knowledge articles

Just to name a few.
I have tried running windows Update version 4 by going through the
Administrator Option Page, only to find the patches were not up to date.

Has anyone found something definite that causes this, or better yet a way to
fix it?
