I am a dial-up user. B/4, When I exited my browser, I would get a dialog box
asking if I wanted to "disconnect". That is not working now. The
"disconnect when connection is no longer needed" is checked in ControlPanel,
InternetOptions, Connections, Settings, Advanced. This stopped working on,
or about Jan 5,2008 after installing some Windows Updates, and an HP Vista
package for my HP printer. Now when I exit the browser, Internet Explorer
closes and I go to my desktop, and I need to disconnect using the '2 TV
screens' ICON on the taskbar. However, the "disconnect when idle for xx
mins" works properly(same Control Panel item), so I don't think I have a
problem with some other application trying to keep the connection ON. I
monitored the TaskManager and only see InternetExplorer active when I am
on-line. Nothing new comes up when I exit.
Is there a Registry setting that controls this? Checked and found
"autodisconnect" items in 3 entries under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\...\..\..\...\InternetSettings, autodisconnect - value
0x0000000f (15) , but changing these to 00, or 01 doesn't seem to make any
difference. Any suggestions?
