Automated Updates don't load.

Using WinXP SP3, cable internet access and Trend Micro Virus protection, if
I set my PC to download updates automatically, when downloading the updates,
the Downloading Updates message stays at 0%. All internet access is
reduced to a crawl. Doing a cold boot doesn't change anything. The only
way to resolve is to turn automatic updates off then do a cold boot.
However, if I go to the MS Update site, the updates appear to download and
install quickly.

Is there a known fix.

Most likely the servers are busy -

Updates are not downloaded or the “Automatic Updates” icon does not display
the status of downloads when you enable the Automatic Updates service

When you manually scan and download, you're actually putting those in the AU
queue back.
