I have searched and searched the groups, have tried many of the
suggestions people have posted. But, my updates still fail. Here is the
windowsupdate.log from today. Any help would be appreciated as it has
been several months since windows updated.

Something I noticed:
AU disabled through User preference
AU is disabled, not initializing



When searching for available updates on the Update site, you receive
the 0x800A0046 error.

Thanks for the reply. Both the admin and services accounts are added. I
have done everything on the link you posted. But will try again. if
anyone has any other ideas please post.

OK, I tried everything of that link and still nothing...I get to the
update page, but the progress bar just keeps going across...and nothing
else happens. Same thing if I click express or custom...All I see is
the Checking for the latest updates for your computer...

Try registering the following:

Click Start, select Run and type (pressing enter after each one and wait for
the
success message):

net.exe stop wuauserv
Press Ok

Repeat for the following:
regsvr32 wuapi.dll
regsvr32 wups.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng1.dll
regsvr32 wuweb.dll
regsvr32 jscript.dll
regsvr32 wucltui.dll
regsvr32 msxml3.dll
regsvr32 softpub.dll
regsvr32 atl.dll

net.exe start wuauserv

I have already done this too. all of them give me a success message,
but updates still do not work.
