I posted yesterday about problems with getting SP2 installed and thanks to
the advice I finally got it working. Unfortunately I have had to reinstall
so many times in the past week - thanks to SP2 install failures - that I must
now activate via phone. I have activated windows too many time via internet.
LOL
After getting SP2 installed it downloaded updates via the automatic update
program and asked me to install. I said yes - express install and afterwards
I had to reboot.
The same problem happened again!
The blackscreen with the windows logo and the blue progress bar appears and
stays for about 5 mins then it fades and automatically reboots. Then offers
to open with last good known config - which also fails - LOL
Do I need these critical security updates, I never had trouble with windows
before but now I cannot seem to get even the basic OS installed due to errors
that are unknown. No graphic drivers, zero programs and virus scanners, no
hardware has been installed. This is the core system and it has failed to
install now repeatedly. Before rebuilding, I had sp2 and all updates working
fine - so the hardware is good. The PC is 1 year old.
Any suggestions on what I can do to proceed with this?
