Automatic update download...

I am using Windows XP pro sp1 and am using dial-up. I had
67% free space available 3 days ago. That was when the
automatic update icon appeared on lower right corner. It
started at 0% and after 6 hours got to 37%. I then turned
off computer for the night. Next day icon came back and
continued download and got to 56%. Again turned off and
today icon came back and got to 93% and then went away
without shutoff. I now have 49% free space, but I don't
know what is trying to download. I am assuming it is
xpsp2 yet I did not tell it to install and since it only
got to 93% download it has not completed. Can someone
tell me where I can look to see what is downloading? I
did go to view installation history but the last item
installed was on 09-17-04. I am having trouble getting
WU to run using tools/windows update so I just typed in
Windows update in search engine and ran both express and
custom. xpsp2 is still in express for install and there
is nothing critical in custom. I need to know what is
trying to download. And why did it stop at 93%? Any help
or suggestions?

No-one answered so will update to let you know where I am
at. After this first post I had trouble with computer so
I had to use my GoBack program to restore to earlier
point. Now icon came back and dowloading at: 58%. Still
do not know what it trying to download and this had been
going on for the past 4 days. I have now went to
start/control panel/automatic updates and disabled the AU
for now. But if there are any more updates to download I
won't be able to use AU until this download is done. I
was reading an earlier post and was wondering if I could
do the following:
1. Stop Automatic updates: Start/run/type
services.msc/click ok/right click auto
updates/properties/services status/click stop
2. Delete contents of DataStore and Download folders:
start/run/type %windir%\SoftwareDistribution/click
ok/delete contents of both folders
3. Restart automatic updates: start/run/types
services.msc/click OK/right click auto
updates/properties/services staturs/click START/click OK

Will this get rid of what is trying to download and then
if it does will it let me get back to where I was 4 days
ago? Any help or suggestions?
