i have a problem, every time i want to use the automatic update function of
windows XP, i get an error code 80004005. i got to
http://update.microsoft.com/microsof...ult.aspx?ln=de

and then i can choose if i want a fast search or a user defined search.

i choose fast search and then i get an error message.

it says theres an error on the web page and because of that error the page
cant be displayed. error code 0x80004005.

so what can i do now please?

i have windows xp and service pack 2

i am from germany.

Have you tried the manual Windows Update? I had a problem with the automatic
and got more information when I tried the manual version using the browser.

"Error Code: 0x80004005" error message when you install Windows XP - worth a read
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306081/en-us
A problem is preventing Windows from accurately checking the license for this
computer. Error Code: 0x80004005

Try running the validation tool
