Automatic Update failures

I have automatic updates configured but they always fail! I am running XP
and have McAfee Internet Security 7.0 but even with it switched off the
automatic updates still fail. I can download the updates if I go to the site
and download it 'longhand'. Any Suggestions??

associated with the download/install.
