automatic update icon

Visited US and got spyware on my laptop. After I had these removed, and
received Microsoft updates - I can't remove the automatic update icon saying
I have to restart my computer. I have restarted several times, but the icon
is still there. I cannot download any new updates as long as the icon is
present.
Get errorcode 0x8DDD0007

Anyone with some good ideas?
