automatic update issues

Hello,

I have been trying to update my computer with the
Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 1.1 Service Pack 1
(886903)
through windows update. When I try to automatically update or manually
update, I receive the following error:

Appliction has generated an exception that could not be handled.
Process id=0xd04 (3332), Thread id=0xaf4 (2804)

Each time I try to install however, it gives me different process and thread
numbers such as
Process id=0xbd4 (3028), Thread id=0xc94 (3220)

I had the same problem & searched on & off for months for a solution. I
finally found a fix posted by Oscar in Windows Updates. Do a search under
my name (nobodyatnowhere) in Windows Updates & you will see the entire
thread. Good Luck
