Something peculiar is occuring.

I am not able to log into the Windows Update site. It just hangs. I can
surf other sites such as microsoft.com and norton.

Automatic Update in Services says starting. I can't get it to start.

In addition, my some of my Norton settings will not activate, like email
monitoring and auto-protect. I was able to manually live update and have
scanned the computer for viruses. When I tried to get Symantec to screen my
computer from their on-line scanning, the Active X controls failed to load.

I have a CRM program called Goldmine that displays the following error: The
ordinal 77 could not be located in the dynamic link library OLEAUT32.dll.

In Excel - I get Microsoft Excel requires file OLEAUT2.dll to run. The
version of OLEAUT32.dll that is on your computer is older than the one
required by this version of Microsoft Excel.

Search and Destroy worked, but Adaware would not download. I got the error
The procedure entry point VarNot could nt be located in the dynamic link
library oleaut32.dll.

All these programs have worked well in the past. Any ideas?

Reinstalling Win2K SP4 didn't help with what, Automatic Updates? Are you
still getting the OLEAUT32.DLL errors? Can you still not
download/install/use Ad-aware SE v1.06?

Is Win2K SP4 Rollup 1 installed yet? If not, it can be installed manually
via
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
(32MB). (It should install a current version of OLEAUT32.DLL. Your current
situation may have been caused by an incompatible version of Goldmine.)

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.net/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post
