Automatic Update Reboot Window will not go away

We have many users who, as of this morning, are experiencing this problem.
All are using Windows XP SP2 over a LAN/WAN.

The Automatic Updates window comes up stating that the updates are almost
complete and a reboot is needed. This is the window with "Reboot Now" and
"Reboot Later" buttons. Both buttons are greyed out. You cannot close this
window. If you go to Task Manager, you can kill it, but it comes back. You
can reboot the computer manually, but the window comes back.

I have over 400 users, approximately half are using Windows XP SP2 over a
wide geographical area, so this could be a big problem.

If you want to prevent reboots see the"PC Magazine" article 'Prevent
Reboots' in the issue dated Nov 7, 2006, page 135.

Thank you for your response. We do not want to prevent the reboots, just
wanted this message to go away. HOWEVER, we have found the problem, which
lies with a terminal services program we are using (the server needs a
reboot, but is sending the message to the users, who can't do a thing about
it.)

Error message when you try to visit the Windows Update Web site: "0x8ddd0007
You need to restart your computer to finish installing a program or
updates":
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948065

Ignore the title and try resolution 2 - removing the registry key.
